The England manager has chosen to retain the same Three Lions selection that secured victory against Andorra and delivered an impressive display in Serbia last month, finding no place for the Real Madrid star and the Manchester City attacker in his selection for the forthcoming exhibition match against Wales and the qualifying match in Latvia.

Despite Foden making a strong case for a return to the squad after rediscovering his form at Manchester City, and Bellingham having returned for his Spanish club following shoulder surgery, the head coach has decided against including two of the nation's most prominent attacking talents. Bellingham has been in the starting lineup only once for his club since his return.

The England boss has found space for Bukayo Saka, who is back to fitness and has been restored in place of his injured Arsenal teammate the sidelined player. Jack Grealish has not been handed a recall.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in the previous selection and seems intent on keeping the same atmosphere. The Newcastle defender, who featured at the defensive flank in the convincing victory in Serbia, has dropped out due to a knock. Tuchel has opted against selecting a like-for-like substitute for the Magpies star but has included the Manchester City defender, who had to withdraw last month. Tuchel has spoken about the centre-back's significance for England and has floated the idea of deploying him in the middle of the park.

There is no place for Adam Wharton, who was called up last month but withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The manager stated: “It was only three weeks since the previous gathering and the last win, the latest display, so the consideration was why not bring the identical squad in because they set the standard. Now it is about building routines out of it. We have regrettably a couple of fitness issues at the moment with Tino and Noni and we bring of course the Arsenal forward in to replace Madueke. Jarell Quansah was a late call-up previously; he will remain with the squad.”
